BSR HyAirport
Practical Solutions
Aviation must become fit for the future and reduce emissions. We, Lübeck Airport, are involved in finding solutions. As part of the BSR HyAirport project, Lübeck Airport is actively involved in testing the practical suitability of innovative hydrogen solutions for aviation. Together with other airports, service providers and research institutions from the Baltic Sea region, concepts are being developed on how airports can prepare for hydrogen-powered aircraft or how other applications of hydrogen make sense. The focus is on the production, safe storage, efficient provision and environmentally friendly use of green hydrogen.
The Baltic Region (BSR) is a hub for business and tourism. In order to strengthen the competitiveness of the region and at the same time protect the environment, BSR is working on innovative solutions in aviation. Aviation is of crucial importance for the economic development of the Baltic Sea countries. In order to make mobility in this region sustainable, the use of hydrogen-powered aircraft offers good potential.
With a total budget of 4.8 million euros, 3.8 million of which comes from EU funding, the BSR HyAirport project, which will run from the end of 2023 to the end of 2026, is considered one of the most important for the Baltic Sea region/aviation.
